By working together, we've made Rockwall a No Kill Community. On Monday August 15, 2011, the Rockwall City Council voted unanimously to make our open-admission municipal shelter a No Kill facility by mandating a "live outcome" rate of 90% or better. That means we adopt, return to owner or save at least 90% of all the pets we shelter in Rockwall.

The city council also voted to privatize the shelter. The Collin County Humane Society became responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shelter on August 1, 2012. The City of Rockwall continues to perform animal control duties.
